Terrain

    Level to undulating sandy terrain. The northern area along the Baluarte Creek bed and several other small areas within the ranch are composed of tighter soil and have greater native brush density.

Location

    12 miles southwest of Falfurrias on the south side of FM3066.

Wildlife

    Whitetail deer, turkey, quail, dove, javelinas, and bobcats.

Hunting

    The ranch has been under game management since 1992 with a wildlife biologist monitoring the ranch. To enhance wildlife habitat the ranch is stocked lightly. In 1997/1998, nearly 200 whitetail deer were introduced to the ranch from El Coyote Ranch in order to enhance genetic hybrid vigor. The wildlife biologist estimates a deer population of one deer per seven acres and a buck to doe ratio of 1:1. This area also produced excellent turkey hunting. Ranch also has quail, dove, javelinas and some bobcats.

Fencing

    Perimeter is fenced with 8' net wire game fencing with alternating 2-7/8" steel posts and metal "T" posts. Game proof cross fencing.

Water

    The ranch is watered by five shallow water wells, three of which are windmill powered and two of which are on electric submersible pumps. Well depth is estimated from 120' - 450' deep. (Quality is excellent in four of the five: the well in the southwest portion of the ranch contains some sulfur. A fresh water fishing lake is located at ranch headquarters.

Improvements

    Ranch headquarters is centrally located and is composed of a main lodge and two air-conditioned sleeping lodges nestled in a gorgeous oak tree setting.

    The main lodge is air-conditioned and features a commercial kitchen with dining facilities, a walk-in cooler, a recreational room, a living room/trophy room with a fireplace and bar. The headquarters compound surrounds a large pool/hot tub, shaded patios, an outdoor cantina and a barbecue area.

    The grounds are landscaped with accent lighting on the surrounding oak trees, creating a gorgeous setting a night.

    Additional improvements include a lighted heliport, fully equipped sporting clay range, armory and skeet/rifle range w/awning, fishing lake, dog kennels, bird raising pens, game hanging area, foreman's home, barn, 2000 model Redman 4/2 manufactured home, guide's quarters, ice house, quail brooder house, 8 bird dogs, 3 ford crew cab hunting rigs w/ quail chairs & high seats, ford 4X4 tractor with shredder & implements, 20 blinds & feeders, nine 3,000 protein feeders, 3 feed silos and auger trailer, high speed internet line, mist equipment & other amenities.

    Caliche road extends southward from the ranch entrance on FM 3066 for approximately two miles to the headquarters compound at the heart of the ranch.
